About Quality In Wood,
A Subsidiary Of W Westerman Ltd
Today, W Westerman Ltd is a 3rd generation family business. It was founded in 1933 by Walter Westerman and is now a significant East Midlands house builder. Walter started out as a carpenter and joiner which explains the origins of “Quality In Wood”.
In 1933, Walter began work on his own in a small shed at his parent’s house in Chilwell, making window frames and carrying out general carpentry repair work.
In his first foray into house building, he built a pair of houses for his relatives in Chilwell in 1935 and then went on to build more houses locally.
The present head office (and base for Quality In Wood), was established in 1938.
The joinery workshop (now Quality In Wood) manufactured and installed most of the woodwork requirements for the buildings, including window frames, doors and skirting boards.
The workshop continues to manufacture and supply joinery products for the new houses sold under the trading name of Westerman Homes.
In addition, it now makes high quality bespoke joinery for public and trade customers including new and replacement doors, windows, summer houses, outdoor classrooms, gates and staircases. We have a solid reputation for delivering quality carpentry work and our team at Quality In Wood are dedicated craftsmen.
